School Choice
provides families interested in different
educational opportunities the ability to attend
schools other than in their assigned school
district. The State of South Carolina
provides vouchers valued at $7,634/year for use
at schools within the School Choice program.

How Does School Choice Work?
The
State of South Carolina gives you $7,634/year
per student to use for the cost of their
education. You can use a portion of this
for the private school tuition, a portion for
school supplies, and the rest can be carried
over to following years to use in the more
expensive high school and college years.
Example: Tuition at Holy Trinity Lutheran Elementary of West Columbia is $4,000/yr per student (Grades 1-8) and $2,500/yr per student (Preschool & Kindergarten). $7,634 - received from the State of SC. less $4,000 - cost of Holy Trinity tuition. $3,634 = remaining for you to use for other expenses or to carry to later years. NOTE: If you miss the state enrollment window or are not accepted into the program this year, we do provide a $1,000 scholarship to all students in your family after the first one. |
